Protection (Child Protection & SGBV)

South Sudan is a country embroiled in violent conflict of all kinds. Sexual and gender-based violence especially against women and young girls is one of the most severe and prevalent forms of violence.

Studies have shown that GBV is so prevalent that nearly seven out of ten women in the capital Juba have experienced a form of sexual violence in their lifetime.

Children too are highly affected by ongoing conflict where they sometimes get conscripted into armed forces and groups, become separated from their primary care givers, do not get basic education or access to essential health services or are married off before their eighteenth birthday.

This means South Sudan is especially a dangerous place to be a woman or child. In recognition of this fact, HHOSS has been actively involved in carrying out protection activities in communities most affected by the ongoing conflicts.

HHOSS staff are well trained in GBV and child Protection interventions like family tracing and re-unification and rehabilitation of children associated with armed conflict (CAACs).
